Braga hosted, on November 21 and 22, 2025, the international conference “Crown and Cross: The Re-Christianization of Europe and the Revival of Constitutional Monarchies,” organized by the Conservative Policy Institute (IPC), based in Famalicão.
In a statement sent to O MINHO by Chega of Famalicão, it is noted that the “event, which took place at the Vila Galé Collection Braga hotel, brought together academics, politicians, and representatives from conservative institutes in several European countries, as well as Israel, to debate the Christian roots of Europe, the decline of religious influence, the cultural identity of the continent, and the possible return or strengthening of constitutional monarchies as moderating institutions.”

“Among the participants were Chega MPs Filipe Melo, Lina Pinheiro, and Rui Cardoso, the president of the Braga local branch of the party, Filipe Aguiar, as well as figures such as Jaime Nogueira Pinto, Dániel Farkas (Danube Institute, Hungary), Samuel Bruce (Prosperity Institute, United Kingdom), and Ofir Haivry (Herzl Institute, Israel),” the same press release states.

The organizers considered the meeting a “huge success” and announced that “Crown and Cross” will become “an annual landmark event in European conservative thought.”

The event, led by Camilo Pinheiro and Pedro Alves, the latter being the president of the Chega Famalicão local branch, was supported by the Danube Institute (Hungary) and the Prosperity Institute (United Kingdom).
